Bitget Wallet review
A feature-packed self-custody wallet, formerly BitKeep, with 130-plus chains, a strong swap engine, gas paid in stablecoins and a large protection fund. It carries a 2022 hack in its past and a closed-source client.
Bitget Wallet is Bitget’s self-custody web3 wallet (free). A capable, self-custody multichain wallet with genuinely useful touches: 130-plus chains, a swap engine that routes across dozens of protocols and bridges, the ability to pay gas in stablecoins, and a large on-chain protection fund of 6,500 BTC. Two things temper it. As BitKeep in December 2022 it suffered a fake-APK attack that drained several million dollars from users who sideloaded a trojanized installer, with compensation pledged, and while that was pre-rebrand and did not affect Play Store installs, it is part of the record. And the client is not confirmed open source. Good for active on-chain and airdrop users who install only from official stores.
It scores 7.4 out of 10 on our fixed 40-point standard, and is our best wallet for airdrops and swaps, weighed on security, ease of use, supported assets, value and recovery. Strengths: Very broad chain and token coverage; Strong swap and cross-chain routing; Pay gas in stablecoins with GetGas. Trade-offs: Carries the 2022 BitKeep fake-APK hack in its history; Client is not confirmed open source; Keyless mode leaves the company holding a key share.

Bitget Wallet is what BitKeep became after the Bitget exchange acquired and rebranded it in 2023. It is one of the more feature-dense self-custody wallets, and notably it is available to US users even though the Bitget exchange is not. This Bitget Wallet review covers its broad chain support, its standout gas feature, the 2022 hack in its past, and how it compares with calmer multichain wallets.

Self-custody, seed or keyless
You control your keys. You can back up with a traditional seed phrase, or use a keyless setup that splits your key three ways using multi-party computation, with any two shares able to sign and email-based registration instead of writing down twelve words. As with all such setups, keyless is convenient but leaves the company holding one share, which is a slightly different trust model than a pure offline seed, so a security-focused user should prefer the seed-phrase path.
Chains, swaps and stablecoin gas
Coverage spans more than 130 chains, from Bitcoin and Ethereum to Solana, Sui and Aptos, with an NFT marketplace, which is why it earns an 8.8 for asset support in our testing. The built-in Bitget Swap engine routes across dozens of DEX protocols and cross-chain bridges, and a standout feature called GetGas lets you pay network fees in stablecoins or the platform token instead of holding each chain's native gas coin, which removes a real headache for multichain users. A dApp browser, staking, and the launchpad and airdrop tools the wallet is best known for round out a dense feature set.
Users, chains and DeFi features
Bitget Wallet is one of the largest self-custody wallets by users, passing 90 million globally, and its scale shows in the numbers: it supports more than 130 mainnets and over 250,000 tokens, with one-click cross-chain swaps spanning around 40 networks. Beyond storage it is a full DeFi and trading hub: an in-wallet DEX aggregator for token trading, a dApp browser into decentralized finance apps, staking and yield options, an NFT marketplace, and the launchpad and airdrop tools power users chase. Swap fees are folded into the routed quote rather than charged as a separate line, so check the crypto amount you receive before confirming a trade. That breadth of chains, tokens and DeFi features is the core reason to choose Bitget over a simpler multichain wallet, and support is handled through help docs and ticketed channels rather than live chat.
Security, audits and the 2022 hack
Bitget Wallet publishes CertiK and SlowMist audits, works with GoPlus on token risk detection, adds pre-signing authorization checks, and maintains a protection fund of 6,500 BTC to cover losses caused by issues on its own platform. The honest history: in December 2022, while still BitKeep, attackers spread fake Android APK files through phishing sites, and users who sideloaded them had keys stolen, with figures reported from about 8 million dollars upward. Installs from Google Play were unaffected, and BitKeep pledged to compensate victims. It is a pre-rebrand incident tied to sideloading rather than a break of the wallet itself, but it is worth knowing, and it is the main reason the security subscore sits at 7.0.
Bitget Wallet vs the alternatives
Against Trust Wallet, Bitget matches broad multichain coverage and adds stablecoin gas and airdrop tools, but Trust is partly open source and carries no comparable hack. Against Coinbase Wallet and MetaMask, Bitget reaches far more chains but trades away open-source transparency and a spotless record. For open-source EVM safety, Rabby is the calmer pick.
| Bitget | Trust Wallet | Coinbase Wallet | MetaMask | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chains | 130+ | 100+ | BTC, Solana, EVM | EVM only |
| Open source | No | Partly | Partly | Yes |
| Standout | Stablecoin gas, airdrops | Mobile multichain | Coinbase onramp | DeFi depth |
| Best for | Airdrop hunters | Mobile multichain | Easy onramp | EVM DeFi |
| Score | 7.4 | 7.8 | 8.1 | 8.3 |

Price and value
Bitget Wallet is free to download and use, earning from swap routing and its ecosystem features rather than a subscription. For an active multichain crypto user the value is high: broad chain and asset coverage, strong DEX swap and cross-chain trading, staking, DeFi access and stablecoin gas would cost you extra steps or fees on a simpler wallet. Trading fees are baked into the swap quote rather than a flat charge, and there is no fee to hold your crypto or move between the wallet's supported chains. The value is lower if you want open-source code or a clean security history, since that assurance is where Bitget gives ground to rivals with fewer features but a calmer record.
Who should buy Bitget Wallet
Bitget Wallet is a strong pick for active on-chain users, airdrop hunters and anyone who wants broad chains plus stablecoin gas, and it is one of the few full-featured wallets US users can actually use. It is the wrong pick if you require open-source code or a spotless security history, in which case Trust Wallet or Rabby are the calmer choices.

Bitget Wallet FAQ
Is Bitget Wallet the same as BitKeep?
Yes. Bitget Wallet is the rebrand of BitKeep, which the Bitget exchange acquired and renamed in 2023. The Android package still carries the old bitkeep name.
Is Bitget Wallet self-custody?
Yes, and it is separate from the custodial Bitget exchange. You control the keys, backed up either by a seed phrase or a keyless three-share setup in which the company holds one share.
Can US users use Bitget Wallet?
Yes. The self-custody wallet passed US app-store review and is available to US users, even though the Bitget centralized exchange is restricted in the US.
Was Bitget Wallet ever hacked?
In December 2022, while still called BitKeep, attackers spread fake Android APK installers through phishing sites and stole keys from users who sideloaded them, with losses reported from about 8 million dollars up. Google Play installs were unaffected and BitKeep pledged compensation. Always install only from official stores.
What is GetGas?
A feature that lets you pay network gas fees in stablecoins like USDT or USDC, or the platform token, instead of holding each blockchain's native gas coin.
What is the Bitget Wallet protection fund?
An on-chain reserve of 6,500 BTC that Bitget Wallet says covers user losses caused by issues originating on its own platform, with claims filed to support within 30 days. Note the fund covers platform-side issues, not your own mistakes or phishing.
What does it cost to swap?
A swap service fee of around 0.3% is reported, though it is not confirmed on official fee docs, so rely on the quote shown before you confirm. Network gas is separate.
How is Bitget Wallet rated?
As of this review it holds about 4.7 out of 5 on the App Store and roughly 4.5 on Google Play, with lower marks on the browser extension and Trustpilot.
Is the Bitget wallet safe in 2026?
This bitget wallet review 2026 finds a capable, US-available self-custody wallet with a large protection fund, tempered by the 2022 BitKeep fake-APK hack in its past and a closed-source client. A bitget wallet security review verdict is that it is safe for careful users who install only from official app stores and use a strong backup.
