Solflare Wallet review

A Solana-native self-custody wallet built around staking, with three hardware-wallet options and a clean security record. The limits are that it is Solana-only and only its MetaMask Snap has a public audit.

The short answer

Solflare Wallet is Solflare’s self-custody solana wallet (free). If Solana is your chain, Solflare is an excellent self-custody wallet, and the best of the bunch for staking, with validator selection, liquid staking and instant-unstake options that Phantom does not match as cleanly. It supports more hardware than its rivals, pairing with Ledger, Keystone and its own screenless Shield card, and it has a clean record with no wallet exploit of its own. Two honest caveats. It is Solana-only, so it is a poor single wallet for anyone holding Bitcoin or Ethereum. And its only public third-party audit covers the MetaMask Snap bridge, not the core wallet, extension or apps, with no public bug bounty. Strong for Solana holders, not a multichain home.

It scores 7.6 out of 10 on our fixed 40-point standard, and is our best Solana wallet for staking, weighed on security, ease of use, supported assets, value and recovery. Strengths: The most complete Solana staking tools; Supports three different hardware wallets; Clean security record, unaffected by the Slope hack. Trade-offs: Solana-only, a poor fit for multichain holders; Only the MetaMask Snap is publicly audited, not the core wallet; Partial open source and no public bug bounty.

Best-in-class SOL staking

Validator selection, liquid staking tokens and an instant-unstake option.

Solflare and Phantom are the two wallets most Solana users choose between. Phantom is the friendlier default and now multichain; Solflare is the one that goes deeper on Solana itself, especially staking. This Solflare Wallet review covers where it leads, its one real caveat, and how it compares with the alternatives.

Self-custody, Solana-first

Solflare is non-custodial, with a seed phrase generated on your device and no way for Solflare to freeze or restore your funds. It runs on iOS, Android, a browser extension and the web, so your wallet follows you across devices. It is built for Solana: SOL, SPL tokens and Solana NFTs. It is not natively multichain, and the only non-Solana access is an EVM bridge through a MetaMask Snap rather than first-class support, so multichain holders will want a second wallet.

Staking is the standout

This is where Solflare earns its place. You can stake SOL with validator-level control, use liquid staking tokens like mSOL or JitoSOL, and take an instant-unstake option that trades a small pool fee for skipping the usual cooldown. Solflare does not add its own commission to standard native staking. For anyone who wants their SOL earning yield while staying in self-custody, it is the most complete staking tool of any Solana wallet, which is the main reason to pick it over Phantom.

Swaps, hardware and buying

In-wallet swaps route through the Jupiter aggregator, so trades settle non-custodially across Solana liquidity. Solflare does not publish a clear platform swap fee and figures cited online conflict, so rely on the quote shown before you confirm. On hardware it is unusually flexible, working with Ledger, the air-gapped Keystone, and its own screenless Shield card, where a single wallet often supports just one device. A fiat on-ramp through third parties lets you buy in with KYC.

The security caveat

Solflare has a clean track record, and it was not affected by the 2022 Solana drain that hit the Slope wallet. It adds transaction simulation and scam or approval warnings before you sign. The reservation for a careful buyer is transparency: its only published third-party audit covers the MetaMask Snap component, not the core wallet code, only part of its code is open source, and there is no public bug bounty. That is weaker assurance than a fully audited, open-source wallet, which is why it does not score higher.

Users, support and track record

Solflare is not a niche project: built by Solrise Finance, with a web wallet since 2020 and a mobile app since 2021, it reports more than 4 million active users and over $14 billion in SOL staked through the wallet as of early 2026. Native SOL staking yields run roughly 5.75% to 6.5% before validator commission, distributed every couple of days in line with Solana epochs, and the account dashboard lets you split your stake across multiple validators. On security features it adds biometric login, threat detection and transaction simulation, and support is handled through documentation and ticketed help rather than live chat. Combined with its Ledger, Keystone and Shield hardware support, that gives a Solana user a mature, well-used wallet, even if the transparency caveats above keep its score in check.

Solflare Wallet vs the alternatives

Against Phantom, Solflare trades multichain reach for deeper Solana staking and more hardware options, so Solana power users lean Solflare while multichain users lean Phantom. Against multichain wallets like Exodus and Trust Wallet, Solflare is narrower but stronger on Solana specifically.

Price and value

Solflare is free to download and use on every platform, and it does not add a commission to native staking, so for a Solana staker the value is high. It earns from swap routing and the fiat on-ramp rather than from a subscription. If you hold and stake SOL, Solflare costs you effectively nothing for its best features; if you are multichain, the value drops because you will still need a second wallet.

Who should buy Solflare Wallet

Solflare is the best pick for a committed Solana user who wants the deepest staking tools, three hardware-wallet options and a clean security record. It is the wrong pick if you hold assets beyond Solana, want fully audited open-source code, or prefer the friendliest possible interface, in which case Phantom or a multichain wallet is the better buy.

Questions

Solflare Wallet FAQ

Is Solflare self-custody?

Yes. Your seed phrase is generated on your device and Solflare cannot freeze, restore or move your funds. If you lose the seed phrase, there is no recovery.

Does Solflare support chains other than Solana?

Not natively. Solflare is a Solana wallet for SOL, SPL tokens and Solana NFTs. The only non-Solana access is an EVM bridge through a MetaMask Snap, which is not first-class multichain support.

Is Solflare good for staking?

Yes, it is its strongest feature. You can stake SOL with validator selection, use liquid staking tokens like mSOL or JitoSOL, and choose instant unstaking for a small fee. Solflare adds no commission to standard native staking.

What hardware wallets work with Solflare?

Ledger, the air-gapped Keystone, and Solflare's own screenless Shield card. That is more hardware flexibility than most single-chain wallets offer.

What are Solflare swap fees?

Swaps route through the Jupiter aggregator. Solflare does not publish a clear platform fee and figures cited online conflict, so rely on the quote shown in the app before confirming. Solana network fees are tiny.

Is Solflare safe?

It has a clean record with no exploit of its own, and it was not affected by the 2022 Slope hack. The caveat is transparency: only its MetaMask Snap has a public audit, its code is only partly open, and there is no public bug bounty.

Solflare or Phantom?

Phantom is friendlier and now multichain. Solflare goes deeper on Solana, especially staking and hardware support. If Solana staking is your priority, choose Solflare; for a simple multichain wallet, Phantom.

How is Solflare rated?

Highly. As of this review it holds about 4.8 on the App Store, 4.7 on Google Play and 4.9 on the Chrome Web Store.

Is the Solflare wallet safe in 2026?

This solflare wallet security review finds a clean record with no wallet exploit and strong in-app risk checks, but only its MetaMask Snap has a public audit, not the core wallet, and there is no public bug bounty. A solflare wallet review 2026 verdict is that it is an excellent Solana wallet, best for staking-focused holders.
