Uniswap Wallet review
The self-custody wallet from the team behind the biggest decentralized exchange, with in-app swaps, MEV protection and, since late 2025, zero interface fees. The catch: it is EVM-only and a heavy phishing target.
Uniswap Wallet is Uniswap Labs’s self-custody DeFi wallet (free). A polished self-custody wallet that is hard to beat if your life is on Ethereum and its layer-2s. Swaps route through the Uniswap protocol with MEV protection, the code is open source and Trail of Bits reviewed, and as of the December 2025 UNIfication the Labs interface and wallet fee is now zero, not the 0.25% most old reviews still quote. The real limits: it is EVM-only, so no Bitcoin or Solana, there is no native hardware-wallet support, and Uniswap is one of the most impersonated brands in crypto, so you must install it only from official links.
It scores 8.2 out of 10 on our fixed 40-point standard, and is our best wallet for DeFi swaps, weighed on security, ease of use, supported assets, value and recovery. Strengths: Tight integration with the largest DEX and its liquidity; Labs interface and wallet fee now zero since late 2025; Open source and independently reviewed by Trail of Bits. Trade-offs: EVM-only, with no native Bitcoin or Solana support; No native hardware-wallet connection in the standalone wallet; One of the most impersonated brands, so phishing risk is high.

Available on iOS, Android and as a Chrome browser extension.
The Uniswap Wallet is what you get when the team behind the biggest decentralized exchange builds a wallet around its own swaps. This Uniswap Wallet review covers its self-custody model, the major fee change that now makes it one of the cheapest ways to trade on-chain, the phishing risk that comes with the brand, and how it compares with the other EVM wallets.

Self-custody, your keys
Uniswap Labs cannot access your keys, assets or recovery phrase and cannot reset your password: only you hold the keys. The classic app and extension use a standard 12-word recovery phrase with optional encrypted cloud backup. A newer in-app wallet option lets you start with a passkey instead of writing down a seed first, with the phrase still exportable later. That passkey path leans on third-party infrastructure (Privy) to split the key, a small trust assumption worth knowing, though it stays exportable and self-custodial, so you can always take full control.
Chains, swaps and the new zero fee
The wallet covers Ethereum plus major EVM layer-2s, including Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, BNB Chain and Unichain, and it holds ERC-20 tokens and NFTs. It is EVM-only, so there is no native Bitcoin or Solana. Swaps run through the Uniswap protocol with MEV protection and cross-chain routing, which is the whole point of the wallet. On fees, the important update: Uniswap Labs charged a 0.15% then 0.25% interface fee through 2024, but the December 2025 UNIfication set all Labs app, wallet and API fees to zero. You still pay the underlying pool fee and network gas, but the Labs cut is gone, which makes it one of the cheapest wallets to swap in.
Access to Uniswap liquidity and tokens
The wallet's real edge is direct access to the Uniswap protocol, the largest decentralized exchange by trading volume. In practice that means deep liquidity and thousands of supported tokens: when you swap, the wallet auto-routes your trade through the most liquid pools across the protocol to minimize slippage and gas, and it protects the trade against frontrunning and sandwich attacks. You can hold and trade almost any ERC-20 token this way without leaving self-custody or touching a centralized exchange. Because the swaps settle through the same protocol that powers Uniswap's liquidity provision and LP fees, an active token trader gets exchange-grade routing inside a self-custody wallet, and since late 2025 without any Labs interface fee on top of the pool fee.
Security and the phishing problem
The wallet code is open source and was independently reviewed by Trail of Bits, and there is no record of an exploit draining genuine Uniswap Wallet users. The real danger is external: fake Uniswap apps and paid search ads are a persistent scam, with documented seed-phrase thefts in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, because Uniswap is one of the most impersonated brands in crypto. That is not a flaw in the app, but it means you should only ever install from wallet.uniswap.org or the official app-store and Chrome listings, and never enter your recovery phrase into a website.
Uniswap Wallet vs the alternatives
Against MetaMask and Rainbow, the Uniswap Wallet wins on swap cost now that its interface fee is zero, but it lacks their hardware-wallet support. Against Rabby, Rabby still leads on pre-sign transaction safety, while Uniswap leads on native DEX integration. All four are EVM-only, so the choice comes down to whether cheap native swaps or hardware support and safety features matter more.
| Uniswap | MetaMask | Rabby | Rainbow | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chains | EVM only | EVM only | EVM only | EVM only |
| Swap cost | Native Uniswap, 0% interface fee | ~0.875% | Best rate, no extra | 0.85% |
| Hardware | No | Ledger and Trezor | Ledger and Trezor | Ledger and Trezor |
| Best for | On-chain swapping | DeFi depth | Transaction safety | Design |
| Score | 8.2 | 8.3 | 8.4 | 8.0 |

Price and value
The Uniswap Wallet is free to download and, since the December 2025 fee change, free of any Labs interface fee on swaps, so you pay only the pool fee and gas that every on-chain trade incurs. For anyone who swaps tokens across Ethereum and its layer-2s, that makes it one of the best-value wallets available, since rivals still add their own swap fee. The value is simply irrelevant if you hold Bitcoin or Solana, which it cannot store.
Who should buy the Uniswap Wallet
The Uniswap Wallet is a strong pick if you swap tokens across Ethereum and its layer-2s and want one of the cleanest, cheapest ways to do it while staying in self-custody. It is the wrong pick if you hold Bitcoin or Solana, or if you want to plug in a hardware wallet, in which case a multichain wallet or a hardware-friendly option like MetaMask is the better buy.

Uniswap Wallet FAQ
Is the Uniswap Wallet self-custody?
Yes. Uniswap Labs cannot access your keys, assets or recovery phrase, and only you can move your funds. If you lose your recovery phrase with no backup, the funds are unrecoverable.
Does the Uniswap Wallet charge a fee?
No longer. Uniswap Labs charged a 0.25% interface fee through 2024, but the December 2025 UNIfication set all Labs app, wallet and API fees to zero. You still pay the underlying pool fee and network gas. Many older reviews still quote the outdated 0.25%.
Does it support Bitcoin or Solana?
No. The Uniswap Wallet is EVM-only. It covers Ethereum and layer-2s like Base, Arbitrum, Optimism and Polygon, but not native Bitcoin or Solana.
Can I connect a hardware wallet like Ledger?
Not natively in the standalone Uniswap Wallet. Ledger integrated Uniswap swaps into Ledger Live separately, but you cannot plug a Ledger directly into the Uniswap Wallet app.
Is the Uniswap Wallet safe?
The app itself is open source and was reviewed by Trail of Bits, with no record of an exploit against genuine users. The main risk is fake Uniswap apps and search ads that steal seed phrases, so only install from official Uniswap links.
What is the in-app passkey wallet?
A newer option that creates a wallet with a passkey, such as Face ID, instead of first saving a seed phrase. It uses third-party infrastructure to split the key, the recovery phrase stays exportable, and Uniswap says it still cannot access your funds.
Did the SEC take action against Uniswap?
The SEC issued a Wells notice to Uniswap Labs in April 2024, then closed the investigation in February 2025 with no enforcement action.
How is it rated?
Highly. As of this review it holds about 4.9 out of 5 on the App Store and 4.6 on Google Play, among the strongest ratings of any self-custody wallet.
What can you do with the Uniswap wallet?
The Uniswap Wallet lets you store, send and receive tokens, swap on the Uniswap protocol with limit orders and cross-chain routing, view NFTs, and connect to dApps through the app or Chrome extension. It is a non-custodial hot wallet where your private keys are encrypted on your device across Ethereum and EVM networks. It cannot hold Bitcoin or Solana, and you fund it with crypto rather than a credit card, since it has no traditional fiat on-ramp.
Is the Uniswap wallet worth it in 2026?
For an Ethereum-focused user, yes. This uniswap wallet review 2026 finds it one of the cleanest self-custody options now that Labs swaps are fee-free, with the main caveats being no Bitcoin or Solana support and the phishing risk around fake apps. As a uniswap crypto wallet review verdict, it is excellent for Ethereum and layer-2s but not a multichain home.
