OKX Wallet review
A powerhouse self-custody wallet: 130-plus chains, a deep swap and bridge aggregator, and both seed-phrase and keyless options. The trade-offs are a closed-source client and its operator's heavy regulatory record.
OKX Wallet is OKX’s self-custody web3 wallet (free). On raw capability, few wallets match it: genuine self-custody across more than 130 chains, a powerful built-in swap and bridge aggregator, on-chain trading tools, and a choice between a classic seed phrase and a keyless setup. It is audited by CertiK and SlowMist and runs a public bug bounty. The caveats keep it out of the top tier. The client is closed source, the keyless option leaves OKX holding one of your three key shares and was pulled from the extension, swap costs stack up across aggregator, gas and bridge fees, and the operator pleaded guilty to US anti-money-laundering charges in February 2025, with funds from the Bybit hack later routed through its Web3 aggregator. None of that touches your self-custody keys, but it is a trust factor worth weighing.
It scores 7.6 out of 10 on our fixed 40-point standard, and is our best multichain Web3 wallet, weighed on security, ease of use, supported assets, value and recovery. Strengths: Enormous multichain coverage, more than 130 chains; Powerful built-in swap and bridge aggregator; Choice of seed-phrase or keyless MPC custody. Trade-offs: Client is not fully open source; Keyless mode leaves OKX holding one of three key shares, and is app-only; Swap costs stack across aggregator, gas and bridge fees.

Two ways to hold your keys
You can run a standard seed-phrase wallet, fully non-custodial with a 12-word recovery phrase generated on your device, or a keyless wallet that skips the seed phrase. The keyless option splits your key into three shares using multi-party computation: one on your device, one on OKX's server, and one in your cloud backup, with any two able to sign. An emergency escape lets you rebuild the key from your two shares if OKX ever disappears. The honest nuance: in keyless mode OKX holds one of the three shares, which is a small step away from pure self-custody, and keyless was discontinued on the browser extension in 2025, so it is app-only now.
Chains, swaps and tools
Coverage is enormous: OKX claims support for more than 130 chains including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, BNB Chain, Tron and the major layer-2s, with NFTs and a fiat on-ramp through partners. The standout is the built-in aggregator, which routes swaps across hundreds of DEXs and bridges across dozens of networks, alongside limit orders, gas abstraction, portfolio tracking and on-chain "smart money" signals. For an active on-chain user, it is a lot of power in one app, and the main reason to choose OKX over a simpler multichain wallet.
Security and the closed-source question
OKX publishes CertiK and SlowMist audits, runs a HackenProof bug bounty, and adds pre-signing checks that flag risky tokens, malicious addresses and unlimited approvals. There is no reported breach of the wallet's key material. The offsetting point is that the client is not fully open source, so you cannot independently verify the code the way you can with a wallet like Rabby, which is a real drawback for a security-focused user.
The operator's record
This is the part a careful buyer should not skip. In February 2025 OKX's operating company pleaded guilty to running an unlicensed money-transmitting business and agreed to pay around 505 million dollars, with the government citing billions in suspicious transactions and US users served against OKX's own policy. Weeks later, roughly 100 million dollars from the Bybit hack was laundered through OKX's Web3 DEX aggregator, which OKX briefly suspended and then hardened. Self-custody means OKX cannot touch your coins, but this history is why we hold the score back to 7.6.
OKX Wallet vs the alternatives
Against Trust Wallet and Bitget, OKX matches broad multichain coverage and adds a deeper swap-and-bridge aggregator, but all three trade away open-source transparency. For EVM safety with pre-sign simulation and partial open source, Rabby is the calmer pick. The choice comes down to whether OKX's aggregator power outweighs its operator record for you.
| OKX | Trust Wallet | Bitget | Rabby | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chains | 130+ | 100+ | 130+ | EVM only |
| Custody | Seed or keyless | Seed | Seed or keyless | Seed |
| Open source | No | Partly | No | Partly |
| Standout | Swap + bridge aggregator | Mobile multichain | Stablecoin gas | Pre-sign safety |
| Score | 7.6 | 7.8 | 7.4 | 8.4 |

Price and value
The OKX Wallet is free to download and use, earning from swap and bridge routing rather than a subscription. For an active multichain trader the value is high: the aggregator can find better routes than swapping on a single DEX, and the on-chain tools would cost extra steps elsewhere. Note that swap costs stack across the aggregator fee, network gas and any bridge fee, so check the amount you receive. The value is lower if you want open-source code or are uneasy about the operator.
Who should buy the OKX Wallet
The OKX Wallet suits power users who live across many chains and want the deepest built-in swap and bridge tools, and who accept a closed-source client and the operator's record. It is the wrong pick if you prioritize open-source code or a clean regulatory history, in which case Rabby or Trust Wallet is the more comfortable choice.

OKX Wallet FAQ
Is the OKX Wallet self-custody?
Yes. It is separate from the custodial OKX exchange. In the standard seed-phrase mode you fully control the keys. In keyless mode your key is split into three shares and OKX holds one of them, which is slightly less pure than a seed-phrase wallet.
What is the OKX keyless wallet?
A setup that skips the seed phrase by splitting your key into three shares using multi-party computation: one on your device, one on OKX servers, one in your cloud backup, with any two able to sign. An emergency escape lets you rebuild the key if OKX disappears. It is available on the mobile app only, having been discontinued on the browser extension in 2025.
How many chains does the OKX Wallet support?
OKX claims more than 130 chains, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, BNB Chain, Tron and the major layer-2s, along with NFTs.
Is the OKX Wallet safe?
It is audited by CertiK and SlowMist, runs a public bug bounty, and adds pre-signing risk checks, with no reported breach of its key material. The main reservations are that the client is closed source and the operator has a serious regulatory history.
What are the OKX Wallet swap fees?
The aggregator fee ranges from 0% to about 0.5% depending on the token. Network gas, pool fees, slippage, bridge costs and on-ramp fees are charged on top and can add up.
Did OKX have legal trouble?
Yes. In February 2025 OKX's operating company pleaded guilty to running an unlicensed money-transmitting business and agreed to pay around 505 million dollars. Separately, funds from the Bybit hack were laundered through its Web3 aggregator, which OKX briefly suspended. These are operator-trust issues and do not give OKX access to your self-custody funds.
Can I use a hardware wallet with it?
It supports some hardware wallets, with Keystone well documented. Support for Ledger and Trezor is less consistent across sources, so confirm your specific device before relying on it.
How is the OKX Wallet rated?
Independent reviewers place it around 4.2 out of 5 (Coin Bureau) to 7 out of 10 (CryptoSlate). Store ratings are muddied because the wallet and the exchange share listings.
Is the OKX wallet safe in 2026?
This okx wallet review 2026 rates it a highly capable but caveated wallet: audited by CertiK and SlowMist and feature-rich, but closed source, with a keyless option where OKX holds one key share, and an operator that pleaded guilty to US anti-money-laundering charges in 2025. An okx web3 wallet review verdict is that it suits power users who are comfortable with those trade-offs.
Who is the OKX wallet best for?
It is best for active, multi-chain DeFi users who want one interface for swaps, the built-in DEX aggregator, market discovery and dApp access across several networks. You manage multiple accounts and your own private keys in standard self-custody mode, unlike a custodial exchange account, and everyday transactions stay under your control. Beginners and passive holders who only need simple storage may find its trading tools too complex.
